Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Pulmonary (lung) rehabilitation is a medically-supervised program designed to help individuals with respiratory diseases improve their breathing and enhance their quality of life. It comprises of exercises and education classes will teach you about your lungs, how to exercise, how to undertake activities with less shortness of breath and how to live better with your lung condition. Pulmonary rehabilitation programs involve patient assessment, exercise training, education, nutritional intervention and psychosocial support.
Once enrolled in the program, you will work with a multidisciplinary team of pulmonary rehabilitation specialists who will tailor the program to meet your specific needs. They will be closesly monitoring your vitals at all times. Patients treating chest Physician and Family Physician are informed of their progress throughout the program
How frequently one should be attending cardiac rehab sessions?
This Program is a 12 week course that meets thrice a week, under the care of a pulmonary rehabilitation specialist designed to provide comprehensive care to individuals with pulmonary disease.
How do I know if the program is right for me?
If your Lung illness or injury interferes with your strength, endurance and breathing techniques,
Some people may enter the program after a hospital stay, while others enrol at the suggestion of their doctor

What does pulmonary rehabilitation involve?

- Supervised tailor made exercise program includes aerobic exercise (treadmill, cycle, stepper) and resistance exercise (weight cuff or theraband or body solids) with BP, Pulse, Oxygen Saturation and ECG monitoring and if required sugar monitoring.
